ANYHERE SEMLA BUN GEMS

· ·

The Swedish National semla bun day is just around the corner! This sweet, fluffy, creamy, cute, and oh-so-lovely creation is only sold during a limited period of time of the year. Perhaps one of the reasons we indulge in them so passionately is because we know we have to wait for a year before we can buy them again.

Typically, the cardamom flavored wheat flour bun is served with a sweet almond paste and whipped cream and is decorated with powdered sugar on the lid. Some old-school semla lovers eat it soaked in warm milk, as it was traditionally served hundreds of years ago, but the creativity to innovate the semla bun seems to be endless.

There are chocolate semlas, raw semlas, the popular semla wraps, cinnamon bun semlas, saffron semlas, Nutella semlas, semla porridge, semla lattes, and, as crazy as it sounds, even pizza semlas! In other words, there is a semla for all taste buds.

Upon popular request, we have collected our (and your!) top semla bun spots in one place. To find the Anyhere semla bun gems, either click on the map (opens google maps in new tab) or see the list below.

Enjoy!
